The Commitment You are Making
When you accept a job for the summer at Camp Starfish, you'll be committing to stay at camp for the full length of the summer dates. All staff members are required to work the entire summer, because the children's successes are largely contingent on our ability to provide them with consistency and individualized, 1-to-1 programming. Also, because we're a small camp (approximately 55 overnight and 14 day campers, with 95 staff), we hire only the staff we need for the summer. Each person's role is therefore incredibly important to the success of our team and to ensuring that camp runs safely and is fun for all. Optional, paid, post-camp work as a "Groups Ambassador" for rental/retreat groups is available for many staff from August 19 - mid-September. Please inquire during your interview if interested in this opportunity!

We do not recommend booking tickets for travel until you have confirmed your role with our Camp Director. Specific travel details will be provided to you once you are officially hired which will add clarification to the arrivals and departures process, allowing you to make the best decision about travel. 

Salary, Bonus & Benefits

aaphoto3We know you're not in it for the money. Still, it helps to know as you're considering a position with us how we will pay you. Here's how the benefits break down:
 
Room (Housing), Board (All Meals) & Laundry
All room, board, and laundry is provided to staff free of charge. You may choose to do your own laundry if you prefer, but you will be expected to live and eat on camp. You may choose to go off camp on your time off, as well, however we will still make sure meals and housing is available to you during that time (for example, on intersession weekends). 
 
Paid Time Off (Daily & Weekly)
You receive time off each day - one activity period during the camp day and some time each night, after kids are in bed, as well. You also receive 24 hours off for every 7 days you work, and this "day off" usually lasts from 7 AM to 7 AM the following day. In most cases, we are able to pair this with a night off, which means that you are off duty, for example, Tuesday night, all day Wednesday, and not back on duty until Thursday morning - which actually works out to more like 36 hours off. During time off, you are welcome to stay on site or leave, and if you have traveled from afar to camp, don't worry: we offer staff transportation to get off-camp. 
 
Transportation
We offer all staff free transportation to and from camp at the beginning and end of the summer from our closest city hub: Boston, MA. Additionally, we run a daily shuttle from camp to the local shops, to nearby towns and to the MBTA train line into Boston for use on your day off. If you need to get to Walmart for the latest People magazine...or you need to get to Boston for an awesome day off, we've got your ride covered. 
 
Certifications & Credits
Any certifications we offer you - such as Care Specialist (Level I or II), Lifeguarding, etc., are at our cost and for you to keep and benefit from indefinitely. :) Additionally, we will work with you to get school credit for the training and work you do at Starfish.  
 
Salary & "Boosts" (Bonuses)
