In the application form, we request that you provide contact details for three professional references and one personal reference. These individuals will receive an email invitation with a link to complete a secure online reference form. We ask references to complete the electronic form within 48-72 hours.
After your interview, we will follow up with a phone call for each reference to complete the reference check process.
It is courtesy to let your references know that we'll be getting in touch. Please help us facilitate your hiring timeline by letting your references know how important it is for them to complete the form in a timely manner, as well as to get back to us once they are contacted for the phone follow-up.
Your 3 professional references should be completed by people who know you in a professional, leadership, child-care or academic capacity (coaches, work supervisors, teachers, internship preceptors or clergy are some examples). They can not be from friends, peers, RAs in your dorm, student officers in a club you belong to, coworkers, or anyone who can provide you with only a social/character reference. If you aren't sure if a reference is appropriate, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Interviews are conducted via phone as well as over "face-to-face" tech such as Zoom, Skype, etc. During the interview, we will ask you a number of questions about your work experience, your general interests, and how you could foresee yourself handling a few circumstances that might occur at camp.
While we do share some details during the interview, this time is not designed to explain the basics of working at camp, so we recommend reviewing both the information on the website and any "preparing for your interview" information we will email you. The interview is, however, designed to answer important questions you may have, so we also recommend that you think about and create a list prior to the appointment. You should expect an initial phone screen/first interview to last anywhere from 15-35 minutes and a full interview to last anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
