The S.T.A.R. (Summer Transitions and Responsibilities) Corps helps older teens develop their leadership, childcare, daily living and employment skills. Each Corps Apprentice is paired with a mentor from our summer staff team for extra support, and as a group each day the Apprentices have training, skill-building and discussion sessions called the Corps Forum. Individually, Apprentices gain additional responsibility, including living in and assisting with a cabin of younger campers. Apprentices are expected to follow a Corps code of conduct which helps them focus on being a positive role model for younger campers and having a good attitude. Corps members have a series of competencies that, as completed, can enable them to advance in standing and earn a stipend for their participation.
